Aten served as the Digital Engagement and Communications Manager for Just Schools, leading the organization through a pivotal rebrand away from GLSEN Arizona and helping establish a sharper, more agile public identity centered on inclusive, affirming schools. His work focused on aligning messaging, digital strategy, and media outreach so the organization could respond clearly and credibly during fast-moving, high-visibility moments affecting queer and trans students across Arizona.
He drove earned media and call-to-action communications that translated digital attention into real-world advocacy, coordinating social and email storytelling with media outreach to mobilize community members to show up at school board meetings and public events. Aten secured interviews and coverage on ABC15 Arizona, Telemundo Arizona, and Arizona PBS, positioning Just Schools as a trusted, responsive voice during moments of public scrutiny.
